Hernia surgery Mr Monkhouse explained what he was going to do and what I was to expect after the surgery. a week later, it all went according to plan and 4 weeks later I am back on the tennis courts. The procedure was as painless as a procedure can be and I stopped taking pain killers 4 days after surgery. Most importantly, my wife is happy ! Pascal

I first met Simon Monkhouse in 2014. I had already undergone 2 major sugeries and was then put under his care at East Surrey Hospital due to having large gallstones. From the moment I met Mr Monkhouse I felt reassured and at ease about the procedure. I was so impressed with him that when searching for weight loss surgery, I was delighted to find that he performed this at Gatwick Park and knew instantly that I wanted him to do it. Due to ill health, I have since had another 3 operations ( including a large hernia repair) all performed by Mr Monkhouse and have received consistent , amazing care whether private or NHS. Mr Monkhouse is approachable, friendly and explains the procedure thoroughly in a way you can understand. He is also a fantastic listener. Even post surgery he continues to show the same care and attention to your wellbeing. He is a fantastic surgeon who I would highly recommend to anyone. I feel privileged to have had him as my surgeon as I truly believe he has changed my life. He is my hero C Reid.

Mr Monkhouse is an exceptional person. I was referred for surgery by another surgeon for a hernia operation and fortunately when I went for the operation, Mr Monkhouse recognised that I had been misdiagnosed and did not operate. The level of communication and advice that I received from him in organising tests and the feedback from the tests was above all expectations. I honestly feel exceptionally fortunate to have been put into his care otherwise I would have undergone open surgery needlessly.

Mr Simon Monkhouse is a true credit to the profession. From my first appointment, through the surgery he performed, right up to and including my follow up and recent discharge from his care, he has been truly fantastic. His professionalism is the highest and he explained everything to me all along the way in a clear, concise and extremely kind and friendly manner. He was also a source of re-assurance when I expressed any anxiety which was of tremendous personal benefit to me. The surgical procedure he performed upon me to repair my hiatus hernia has quite simply changed my life enormously for the better. As a quick example, I am now able to eat and drink things that I just wasn't able to for a number of years prior, thanks to Mr Monkhouse and his team. I simply cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me going forward in my life.

Mr Monkhouse is a fantastic Doctor. He put me and my husband at ease the whole time I was under his care. I was taken into hospital through A&E as an emergency and stayed for 4 days, during this time Mr Monkhouse quickly arranged tests to find out what condition I had, made sure I was well enough to leave hospital then quickly arranged an operation within weeks to remove my gall bladder. Aged 51 I had never had an operation before but he reassured me immediately prior to the operation which went well. I then unexpectedly reacted badly to the general anesthetic but Mr Monkhouse returned to the hospital that night to make sure I was OK and monitored me via by phone via his wonderful team throughout the night. I went home 2 days later having been visited by Mr Monkhouse twice a day, during this stay he arranged several different scans/x-rays which reassured me that everything was ok. He then phoned me at home a few days later to check on my progress. Brilliant doctor, I couldn't have asked for more from the NHS. Mr Monkhouse is certainly an asset to East Surrey Hospital. Thank you.
